Here are my finals for the project. We chose the two best roughs of each element of design. The next step in the process was converting the hand drawn roughs into digital replicas using illustrator. The final size of each type design is 4x4 inches. We will be mounting them all on black "wobble" boards, 6 to each.
Overall, the project was quite interesting. It was fun seeing how one letter, or part there of, can be used to change the shape of a square. Also, using one letter to trick the eye into seeing direction. After all, type is shape, and shapes can be used to create any principle or element of design.

These are amazing! Your final drafts for pattern and color are just top-notch. Well done! :D
ReplyDeletegreat job! I really like your Pattern. Good idea to connect them with one another, can't even tell that they're H's. Well done! =]
ReplyDeletegoing from right to left grace you have some great idea but I want to see more variety between the 2 solutions please. You could really pushing yourself more WITH size and curve verse hard edge
ReplyDeleteDesigns 1 – shape – I think one of these works – they are too similar
Design 2 - Line, implied line is excellent. To allow the eye the ability to create the line was very inventive Again too similar – I really like the idea but need more variety -
Design 3 - direction all a bit of the sameness the use of the curve is great and could have been a shape solution but basically the same as each other
Design 4- size tooo much of the same I want to see more variety
Design 5 pattern an excellent job – the pact that you did not fill the entire page is a different solution!! celtic
Design 6 – value – the smallness of the letters give pattern and movement – the shapes create a sort of identifiable gray haze
