Here are my first set of roughs. I am going to go in the direction of using typography to visually describe the definition of war. (two forces fighting against each other).
Out of them all I think the strongest is the 4th in the top row. I feel it is strong since it looks like one side is towering over the other side which may represent one side having a bigger army against the other side.
